International Theme 2021/22 ‘Stronger women, stronger world’
As I write, we are on the precipice of the opening up of life, where we can again meet face to face rather than as we have done in the past twelve months. Zoom has been a perfect tool that has enabled us to keep District and Clubs together, but I am so looking forward to getting back to be able to meet in person.
I joined the Inner Wheel Club of High Wycombe in 2009 with the thought that I would attend meetings but not get too involved. However, when the Club was looking for a Treasurer, I thought that was something I could do. In 2014 I became President finding myself becoming totally involved in Inner Wheel including attending my first Association Conference in Bournemouth.
My introduction to District 9 was in 2016 when I was asked if I would take on the role of Editor; in 2019, and with much trepidation, became 2nd District Vice Chairman and now here we are in 2021 with my year as your District Chairman ahead of me. This is indeed an honour and I know that with the support of the District Executive and my Club it will be an extremely rewarding year. I am looking forward to getting to know members at Club visits, social events and District meetings.
A message from our District Chairman for 2021/22
I have chosen Mind as my Charity as I have a great deal of interest in mental health. I qualified as a Counsellor in 2006 and continue to work in a voluntary role. With the effects on mental health during the pandemic, the services of this charity are in increasing demand.
I truly believe in the objects of Inner Wheel where, in this last year, we have seen it in abundance; ‘True friendship, personal service and fostering International understanding’.
My best wishes to every member for the coming Inner Wheel year. Jennie Evans
